Units: Simple Alcohol Tracking

Developing

What it is

Units is a straightforward app for tracking the alcohol you drink. Log a drink, how the units add up, and understand your own patterns over time.

Start with why

Most alcohol trackers are functional, but lack the usability and polish to truly simplify the core experience.

Units is my attempt to strip that back. One well-designed app, built around a single job, done properly. Craft is the differentiator. The interface should feel considered, not just functional, and the app should get out of your way rather than compete for your attention. No one likes manually entering data, and this app helps make it easy.

What it does

Logging a drink is quick. Pick what you had, and Units converts it into UK alcohol units so you're working with a consistent measure rather than guessing. Behind that sits a simple insights view: your units over time, patterns by day or week, and a running picture of where you actually stand rather than a vague sense of it. You can even save your own preferences to make “the usual” the usual.

Nothing about the app is designed to nag or gamify. It's a record, not a scoreboard.

Where it stands

Units is currently in development — there's no build to try yet. I'm designing and building it the same way as my other projects: slowly, with attention to the details that usually get cut first.

What's next

Next up is getting a first working version together, followed by a closed test before any public release. If you want to hear when that happens, keep an eye on this site. I'll post an update here when there's something to try.
